A Pinterest Inspired Nursery

Are you on Pinterest?
If you aren't, maybe you shouldn't...it's addicting!

I found A TON of crafts/DIY stuff on Pinterest that I wanted to do in Lily's nursery. I didn't have a "theme, I just wanted to use bright colors.

Here it is:
L is for Lily :)

READ, READ, READ!
*thank you to everyone for the books!!

A lot of what you see is something I did myself or got off of craigslist and I saved $$!

I would encourage new parents to try to do some decor themselves and look on craigslist - great deals out there!

...and what kind of post would this be if it didn't have any pictures of this little sweetie?!

Happy Friday!

The Amazing Race/The Amazing Night

Three cheers for The Amazing Race starting last night!!
Anyone else love that show? It's one of our favorites.

Last night our little family enjoyed some time together, just the three of us:

Lily was quite the little snacker (growth spurt?) She tells me when she is hungry and I feed her.
While I was nursing, Mark said he is changing our address to UDF.   (United Dairy Farmers) ha-ha!
Our family time consisted of being snuggly on the couch, watching TV, and eating popcorn. Sound like your family time?

Here is a video I took of Lily:

A girl after our own hearts :)

It was an amazing night. Lily was WIDE awake for 3 hours just looking at us and making silly faces.
Then, she slept like she has never slept before, a stretch of 4 hours! I woke up after 2 hours, 3 hours and finally she woke up after 4. Girl must have been tired.

Hope your Sunday evening was great, too.
And if you don't watch The Amazing Race, you should! :)

new mom thoughts

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
-Rajneesh

I am sitting here with my 9-day-old baby in my arms.
I am exhausted, to say the least.
The last week and a half have been a blur:  nursing, changing diapers, nursing, and doing laundry. What day of the week is it? Ha.

My world has been turned upside down (and shaken), but I wouldn't trade this new upside down for anything. God has blessed me with a beautiful and healthy baby girl who I fell in love with the very second she entered the world. I knew I would love her but I never dreamed I could love her this much. Amazing.

Doc says we should stay away from heavily populated areas (church & grocery) until she is 1 month. I am totally bummed but I know it is best for Lily as her immune system is still weak.

Until then, we will stay inside and hangout together; just me and my Lily.

absolute joy.

John 16:21 A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.
